Big Feelings, don't always come with words

At Valeo Mental Health LLC, therapy gives children space to feel understood, build skills, explore emotions, and work through difficult experiences in ways that make sense for their age and development

Adults often communicate through conversation. Children naturally communicate through play, creativity, movement, and imagination.

That's why child therapy may look a little different from adult therapy.

Depending on your child's needs, sessions may include toys, games, art, storytelling, sandtray, imaginative play, or other creative activities alongside conversation.

Play isn't simply something we do instead of therapy.

Play can be the therapy

Through play, children can explore experiences, express feelings, practice new ways of responding, develop confidence, and make sense of things that may be difficult to express with words.

Why Play?

Sometimes, behavior is communication

A child who refuses, argues, shuts down, lashes out, clings, avoids, or tries to control everything may be communicating something they don't know yet how to say.
